“ Melinda and I first enjoyed Indian cuisine in the early 80s on one of our first trips to the United Kingdom. It was love at first bite. Our favorite Indian restaurant is still The Chambeli in central London. The Chambeli is 4,820 miles and an ocean away from our old Kentucky home in Arlington. We had long dreamed of somebody founding an authentic Indian restaurant closer to our neck of the woods. Our dream has come true. Our "Chambeli West" is open in Bardwell. The Kalyankar family has reprised the old 51 Grill at 464 US 51 in midtown Bardwell, a tad over six miles from our front door. If you're an Indian food fan like the Craigs of Carlisle County, 51 Grill is the real deal. ”

“ Bless the people who have reopened this establishment with the country cooking people love but also friggin' amazing Indian food. If you've never tried Indian food before, please get to this restaurant posthaste. We tried the onion pakora and the samosas for appetizers and both were excellent. The pakora was like elevated battered and fried onions with the best spice blend. Samosa are delicious filled dumplings enveloped in a delicate pastry. The tamarind sauce with the samosas were a great pair, as was the cilantro sauce with both the appetizers. I had the butter chicken and my partner had the tandoori, with an order of garlic naan to share. I think the butter chicken is a good introduction to Indian food, it's spiced but not hot-spicy. Treat yourself to a mango lassie drink and save room for some gulab jamun! This place posts their lunch specials on Facebook and they have some great combo plates for fair prices. Our server Ude (probably not spelling that correctly at all) was a total sweetheart. ”
